Dimly is made by Yaysoft LTD. This policy explains what the app collects and why. The short version: which apps and websites you block never leave your iPhone, and nothing we collect contains your name or the content of your apps. The only way we get your email is if you type it into the feedback form yourself.
What stays on your iPhone
The apps, categories and websites you choose. Apple's Screen Time gives Dimly only opaque tokens that cannot be turned into app names, and they are never sent anywhere.
Your sessions, plans, history, dim level, streak, shield note, typed website list and the count of urges you let pass.
iCloud sync (optional)
iCloud sync is off unless you turn it on in Settings › iCloud. When it is on, your plans (their names, times and days), your session and plan history, your typed website list, the shield's look and message, and a few preferences (appearance, haptics and session length) are stored in your own private iCloud account, through Apple's CloudKit and iCloud key-value storage, so your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account can use them. That data sits in your private iCloud database: Dimly and Yaysoft LTD cannot read it, and it never reaches our server. Which apps, categories and websites you picked in Apple's Screen Time picker never leave the device they were chosen on, with or without sync; a plan that arrives on another device asks you to choose its apps there. Turning sync off keeps everything on your iPhone and lets you keep or delete the copy in iCloud; you can also remove it at any time in iOS Settings › [your name] › iCloud.
What we collect
Usage events, sent to our own server on Cloudflare: for example that onboarding was completed, the paywall was shown, or a 25-minute session started at 9 o'clock. They carry a random install identifier, the app and iOS version, the app language, and the country derived from the connection. The IP address itself is not stored.
The install identifier is created on your iPhone and kept in its Keychain, so it stays the same if you delete and reinstall Dimly. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple Account. You can see its first characters in Settings › Support ID.
Analytics: the same events are sent to Google Firebase Analytics, with Firebase's own app instance identifier, to understand how the app is used. Dimly does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), does not show ads, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Purchases: subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple. RevenueCat receives your purchase receipts, with an anonymous RevenueCat identifier and your install identifier, to confirm your purchase. It passes purchase events (such as a trial starting, a renewal, a cancellation or a refund, with the product, price and country) to our Firebase analytics and to our own server, where they are stored with your install identifier. We never see your payment details or your Apple Account.
Crash reports: if the app crashes or hits an error, a technical report with device and app details is sent to Sentry. It contains no personal data and nothing about which apps you block. Reports pass through our own server on Cloudflare on their way to Sentry, which does not store them.
Feedback: when you send feedback from the app (Settings › Feedback, or "Not really" on the rating question), we receive the kind you picked (problem, idea or other), the message you typed, and, only if you enter it, your email address so we can reply. The app and iOS version, app language, device model (such as "iPhone16,2"), your install identifier and the country derived from the connection are attached. It is stored on our own server on Cloudflare, and the message, email, versions, device model and country are forwarded to our team's private Telegram chat so we see it quickly. We use it only to answer you and improve Dimly.
How long we keep it
Usage events, purchase events and feedback messages are deleted from our server after 180 days. An install that has not been seen for 180 days is deleted together with everything tied to it. Firebase, RevenueCat and Sentry keep data under their own retention settings.
What we never do
We do not sell data, share it with data brokers, or use it for advertising.
We do not collect your name, contacts, precise location or the content of your apps, and we do not collect your email unless you type it into the feedback form.
Your choices
Deleting Dimly deletes everything stored in the app on your iPhone. To have the data tied to your install deleted from our server, write to us with the Support ID shown in Settings › Support ID; we delete it, including any feedback you sent, and, if you ask, your RevenueCat customer record too.
